We are so happy that God has placed you in our class!
We will start out the month of September learning our classroom schedule and rules. We will have a lot of activities to help us learn A, B, C & D. We will be counting from 1-10 daily and working to recognize the numbers 1-5. Our bible lesson for the month will be the story of Creation. The classes will join for a science lesson about the changes that are going to happen outside this Fall. We will also be doing assessments for small groups which will start in October.
The Little Engines
We will all hear the story of the Little Engine that Could and learn that we should never give up on hard things but instead keep trying. Each child will be given the opportunity to bring home this book home to share with their family.
Busy Bears
Our first unit will be "All About Me" We will make self portraits and talk about who is in our family. We will talk about our houses and begin to learn our addresses. We will also have a unit on apples. We will make things with apples, talk about how they grow and even have a tasting to decide which apple we like best. We will then have a unit on Fall. On Sept 10, we will celebrate Patriot Day. We will talk about the flag and what it means, as well as learn the Star Spangled Banner.

The 4 year old classroom concentrates on Kindergarten readiness in an atmosphere of Christian love. Each child is involved in small group and large group activities. The academics, arts & crafts are designed to help the children build strong skills and confidence in order to have a positive first year of school. Bible stories and teaching Christian values are also an important part of the day. The children are encouraged to become more independent and responsible for themselves. Of course there is also plenty of play time, inside and out, to add to the fun.
Weekly the children have a special enrichment time. This class includes library time, music, art and science. This is a special time for the children to explore and develop the unique gifts God has given them and explore the wonderful world God has created.
Biweekly, chapel is held in the sanctuary. This is a time for the children, as a preschool, to get excited about God and all of His blessings through Bible stories and songs. The biblical teachings are reinforced in the classroom throughout the week.Small groups are a time for the students to concentrate on Kindergarten readiness skills and get more individual attention. The 30 minute lessons each week concentrate on math, numbers, phonics and science. During this time all students will work with both 4 year old lead teachers.
