In March, the 4 year olds will have a group lesson on Van Gough and what it means to be an artist.  We will even paint like an artist. 

Small groups will focus on number recognition and continue working in our number books to learn the correct way to form those numbers. There will be new sight words for the children to practice reading and spelling. 

Little Engines

We will work on letters S, T and U.  To celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday, bring in your favorite Dr. Seuss book during the first week of March. Our Bible lesson will be learning the meaning of the Lord's Prayer and why it is so important for us to know this prayer  

Monkey Business

We will step up our expectations of the children in order to prepare them for kindergarten.  We will be concentrating on raising our hands before we speak and making good choices. 

Busy Bears

In March, we will talk about the food pyramid, the Arts and word families.  Our letters will be V through Y.  We will continue counting to 100.  With spring approaching we will spend time learning about the changes of the upcoming season.  We will also be learning about different types of art from music to visual arts.

Classroom

The 4 year old classroom concentrates on Kindergarten readiness in an atmosphere of Christian love.  Each child is involved in small group and large group activities.  The academics, arts & crafts are designed to help the children build strong skills and confidence in order to have a positive first year of school.  Bible stories and teaching Christian values are also an important part of the day.  The children are encouraged to become more independent and responsible for themselves.  Of course there is also plenty of play time, inside and out, to add to the fun.  

Weekly the children have a special enrichment time.  This class includes library time, music, art and science.  This is a special time for the children to explore and develop the unique gifts God has given them and explore the wonderful world God has created.   

Biweekly, chapel is held in the sanctuary.  This is a time for the children, as a preschool, to get excited about God and all of His blessings through Bible stories and songs.  The biblical teachings are reinforced in the classroom throughout the week.

Small groups are a time for the students to concentrate on Kindergarten readiness skills and get more individual attention. The 30 minute lessons each week concentrate on math, numbers, phonics and science.  During this time all students will work with both 4 year old lead teachers.
